Items to be packed :  Previous team members, please contribute your ideas!!!!

FHM shirt (request your size), bring nail brush and eye drops, hat, sunscreen, bug repellent with DEET (not 100%), binoculars, soccer balls, Icy Hot (for sore muscles) sunglass straps, flip flops for taking showers at Fondwa, team snacks

Questions???  Invite folks to be part of our team by contributing towards the cost of snacks, games, and baby wipes (for hand washing and cooling down!!!!)

 Team preparations:  Each person should be prepared to lead a devotional time on one night of our trip.  Pick a scripture that is especially meaningful for you, either in preparation or after we arrive.  You can plan for us to sing praise songs . . . Jess and I will bring our instruments  - or just share and pray.

Blanchard VBS Overview:

Time frame:  Monday thru Thursday, July 21-24

Format:   4 classrooms with additional spaces for games (sample schedule from last year)

The best attitudes to bring to Haiti are love and flexibility!!!!!!  Your class lunch time will vary each day.

Staff:  2 teachers per room with 1 translator per room

Location:  Teachers have stayed in the same room/area each day.  Kids move to a different area each day as a group.

Regular prayer time weekly:  select a time frame to pray regularly:  Monday mornings???

 Key verse:  The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs.  Isaiah 58:11

Susan and Rev. Charles are translating our verse into Kreyol.  Volunteer to set the words to a melody as a song????

Bible stories:  One team per story:  schedule will include 2 crafts and at least 2 games, as well as prayer time, introductions, coloring sheets . . .

God is awesome! He creates the world:  Genesis 1-2:4; Psalm 136:1-9

God is awesome in healing:  Jesus Heals the Paralytic:  Luke 5:17-26

God is awesome in power:  Jesus Walks on Water:  Matthew 14:22-33

God is awesome! He is LORD over all:  Jesus comes to earth; dies and lives again! John 19: 1-6; 16-18; 20: 1-18

Teams for each story:  Nancy, Jesse and Rev. Charles will each lead a story and room activities.

Some game options using simple equipment: Think about things that can be done with minimal equipment and limited space.

Balloon volleyball, relay races, parachute games with beach balls, or balloons

Long jump or high jump using jump rope markers

Ping pong ball race using paper fans

Carry the torch relay, using rolled construction paper for the torches

Relay races using beach balls, over and under, pass behind the back, over the head, run with ball between your knees

Target games with bean bags, mini-frisbees

 Craft options to select:

 Craft materials for each room:

Colored pencils, sharpeners, markers, coloring pages & coloring books, beach balls, Sharpie marking pens,

masking tape, ziploc bags, large garbage bags, maracas, scissors, miniature frisbees

Packing party:  Plan to help pack up snacks and other supplies:  dates to be determined.  You will need to bring your lunch snacks that day to throw into a communal bag.  Plan to have dinner together- Hamburgers and hot dogs and homemade ice cream.
