FHM's mission is to support international communties in their efforts to build and sustain healthy families.

FHM's vision is healthy familes & healthy communities world-wide.

FHM accomplishes its mission and vision by supporting and empowering community leaders, building and supporting local facilities, hiring community residents as staff, collecting and analyzing community health data and  developing scalable best practice healthcare models.  FHM's long term goal is to help low resource communities become self-sufficient.    FHM's support focuses primarily on women's health, children's health, public health, and education in Haiti.

FHM measures success by determining whether each program...

1. ...has a positive impact on the lives of individuals (short term goal)
2. ...adds value to a community (intermediate goal)
3. ...improves the overall health of a community, region or an entire country (long term goal)

What about the word ministries in our name? 

From its beginnings, FHM has had a strong faith-base, which has been a natural extension of the long-term relationships that the founders of FHM developed with people living in resource-poor Haitian communities who put their complete trust in God 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As a couple of examples, on the night of September 11, 2001 thousands of struggling Haitian peasants in one of the poorest shanty towns (Cite Soleil) held an all night prayer vigil for Americans and following the January 12, 2010 earthquake in Haiti, thousands of Haitians who lost loved ones gave thanks to God and sang hymns in the streets.  Haitians place great value and trust in their relationships with both man and God.  Hence, while "family health" remains FHM's mission, "personal transformation" is what many experience as they work with us and get to know the remarkable people of Haiti as friends. 

As a result, many "Haiti-transformed" Americans find themselves becoming better colleagues and friends when they return home. Family Health Ministries and our mission are actively supported by individuals and communities that are from many different secular and faith backgrounds including Muslim, Jewish, Hindu & Christian. Our short term goal is to leave the world a little better than we found it - and our long term goal is to live in a world comprised of healthy families and healthy communties living together as one.
