GIS Project: Past Data Collection and New Child Health Survey

While previous collected GIS research in the Blanchard community is being analyzed for pre and immediate post-earthquake information, we are expanding this project with a new, more detailed survey that will collect information on child health status in Blanchard community. Data collection will include history of childhood vaccination, malnutrition, malaria and other common illnesses. In addition, we will investigate associated risk factors for illness and poor health among young children by analyzing maternal behaviors such as breastfeeding, antenatal care, and level of education. Additionally, the GPS location of the family home will be linked to the collected information. This data will be used to design future geographically targeted health interventions and educational programs.
